Electronic fax and faxing to email online The process of sending an electronic fax from one fax machine to another is fast becoming a thing of the past. Electronic faxing can now be done directly from your home computer or your business network. Faxing online is the new way of transferring documentary information between a fax machine and a pc or a network that is connected to the Internet. It is just as easy to fax to email today, as it is to make a telephone call. But what does this service cost. There are numerous companies today who offer an Internet fax service, and for the majority of them there is a basic monthly charge. But there are also companies that offer this service for free. Alternatively there have been programs around for a number of years that, providing you have a modem attached to your computer, allow you to send faxes from your computer for the cost of the phone call, and to receive a fax for no cost at all. There is just no need for that ancient and unreliable fax machine. For the larger company running a network of computers, there is fax server software readily available on the market that enables anyone on the network to send or receive a fax on their workstation. Choosing the correct fax server software is important. The fax server has the added advantage of being able to store faxes until they can be viewed, of keeping track of which employees are using the facility, and of sending out one or more faxes to a whole batch of clients at the same time. Another distinct advantage is that no time is wasted on busy signals from that distant machine – the fax server simply keeps trying by itself until the communication has been sent.
